I was interested to find this brief discussion. My Worcesterberry, which we inherited with the garden 24 years ago, is a real brute, but we love it.

We have just harvested 28lbs of fruit from the one bush, despite the painful jabs and scratches, but concluded that this year it has become too big at around 7 feet diameter, which makes it impossible to reach the middle without severe injury!

So I have frozen the fruit and in the spring we will cut it hard back, which means we probably won't get a crop. But with the frozen fruit I will make wine (we call it 'Cheerful Worcesterberry') and jam, and use some in place of cranberries or redcurrants for sauce with meat.

I use to not like oatmeal. It was a texture thing. In fact, somedays it's still the texture that brings on the gag reflex. I also had a bad chilhood experience with oatmeal….I'll let everybodys imagination run with that one. Anyway, when I can handle oatmeal, I'll mix in honey or frozen fruit. I never thought of raisins…Yum!! I will try it. Has anyone tried the steel cut oats? Are they worth the extra cost?

I purchase the Daily Boost herb blend from The Bulk Herb Store. To make a basic smoothie I use:1 teaspoon of the boost-put this in your blender first so it mixes in well.1/2 c. yogurt or 1 container-any flavor if fine we usually use plain or vanilla.1 c. frozen fruit or you can also use fresh fruit and throw in a couple ice cubes. We almost always have a bananna in our smoothies since they are so cheap! 2/3 c. juice: orange, apple, mango, your choiceCombine well in blender. I like to add just a little sweetener to it as well. You can also add a little more liquid if you like do not like a thick smoothie. We like to be able to drink a smoothie from a straw. We also sometimes make Green Smoothies but I haven’t posted about those because Brandon doesn’t know I make them. ;) I’d love to know what some of your favorite smoothie recipes are.
