I can not have lemon juice or anything with acid and I can not seem to find a hummus in stores or a recipe with out lemon juice. Can i just leave it out of the recipes I find or does anyone have a great Non-Lemon juice Hummus recipe?
Ingredients
2 (15 ounce) cans garbanzo beans
1/2 cup tahini (sesame seed paste)
3 garlic cloves, pressed
1 teaspoon ground cumin
salt and pepper
Directions
1) Drain beans and reserve the liquid when you do so.
2) Blend it in a food processor with the other ingredients and 1/4 cup of the liquid.
3) Process until the mixture is smooth.
4) Add liquid until the desired consistency is reached.
5) Adjust seasonings along with more cumin, salt and pepper.
It doens't taste exactly the same, just because the lemon juice does add a certain bite to it, but its still very good. If you don't have enough of the garbanzo liquid, try adding a little bit of olive oil or water to get the right consistency...
