Making Apple Juice Juicer
Making Apple Juice Juicer
I have a juicer, what are some of the more exotic veggies that you all are juicing?

So I just got a juicer and have been juicing on a daily basis, pretty typical stuff: carrots, celery, kale, cucumbers, beets, ginger, sweet potatoes, pomegranates, hot peppers, and some lemons and apple to make it all a little sweeter.

i tend to go dumpster diving pretty frequently and am always finding a mix of new stuff that leads to some great kitchen experimenting.

i was just wondering what some of you have found to be good juice ingredients. anything that might be surprising? any particularly good combinations?

thanks a lot, everyone.

Believe it or not, cabbage is pretty good when it's juiced. It comes out tasting kind of sweet. Add it to your basic carrot, ginger, apple juice and you've got an additional treat that helps clean your liver.

If you find melons, those are great to juice with the rind on. Pineapple, cantaloupe, watermelon...just put the whole thing in. The nutrients are in the skin. :-)
Pineapple, btw is the only good natural source of bromine. It's a muscle relaxant and the bulk of it is found in the skin.

Juiced broccoli is pretty tasty. It's not bitter or super strong...I am not fond of what it looks like, but it's not bad. Same with green peppers.

Happy juicing.

Juicer Comparison - Slow Juicer vs Blender - Apple Juice

What is the best type of apple to use for juice?

I just bought a new juicer and was wondering what kind tastes best or makes the most juice.

I used to work in a smoothie/juice shop and although we used a lot of red apples [ all variations] the most popular? Green. So many fruits/vegetables used in juicing are sweet, and green gives just the right hint of tartness when used in conjuncture with other fruits/vegetables you might be using. All apples, as has been my experience give about the same amount of juice, unless of course you are going beyond the average size or less than average. [ you get the picture]

A popular drink we made was using red/green apples [apx 2 each] 1/2 cup of fresh strawberries, one orange, and ginger[ this varies with size of the root, add to taste].

Some opted to put beet and spinach into said drink but the former was more popular.

Happy Juicing.
