1999 GMC SUBURBAN A/C blows luke cool air in front and cold air in aft cabin.?
GOT A 4X4 1/2 TON SUBURBAN, just recently the front cabin has been getting warmer with the a/c on and the rear cabin has been consistently cold with a/c on. I know I have two seperate systems. I already tried washing out the condenser fins next to the radiator. and I bought the $30 synthetic R134A bottle of A/C recharge juice with the cheap pressure guage, and added enough to where the needle almost read between the alert and normal area on the guage, this helped a little bit in the front cabin. but still no where close to the rear cabin temps. Yes my A/C clutch engages when I press the button. I noticed that the condensation from the aft condenser drain hole had cold water coming out of it, and the front drain hole by the engine had hot water coming out of it. Is it possible the rear system is low on refrigerant, or are the two condensers fed off of one accumulator. the chilton repair manual doesnt go into detail. I also need help in removing the fenderwell cover in the back. thanks.
You really need the gauges that read hi and lo side, it's better for these Yahoo! diagnostics! My first thought is, if you know there's no leak, your expansion valve might be stuck closed, bypassing the evaporator. Your high side will not pressurize as well since no evaporation is occuring and the air will not cool. Instead of mid 200's you might only get ~150. Low side might only reach 35 instead of 45-50 that I like to see. If it gets a little cold with one can of juice then your TXV is probably not stuck, you are low on coolant. You might want to try adding a can with the dye in it. ($30 for one can of R134a? OUCH! I pay $11 with dye) Do it at night and be ready with the UV light and yellow glasses. If you know it's leaking and can't see where my bet is a leaky evaporator. That hot water puzzles me, could your heater core be leaking, too? Does the hot water smell like antifreeze? The two systems are completely independent and would not share an accumulator.
