Healthy Smoothie With Tomato, Celery And Scallion

Did you know that the tomato plant is part of the nightshade family? Some species in this family are very rich in alkaloids to the point of toxicity. Indeed, some species are fatal to both humans and animals in very small quantities.

Fortunately, this is not the case with tomatoes! Tomatoes are among the most popular vegetables in the world and are believed to have very special health benefits.

Tomatoes are rich in lycopene which is one of the most powerful naturally occurring antioxidants. Emerging science suggests that lycopene is very helpful in preventing prostrate cancer and also in improving the ability of the skin to withstand damage caused by UV radiation from the sun. Other benefits may include reduced risk of breast, head, and neck cancers.

Long a favorite in salads and juices, tomatoes also help make some wonderfully satisfying vegetable smoothies recipes.

Here is a refreshing lunch smoothie mix that is easy to make and very healthy as well.

TOMATOE VEGETABLE SMOOTHIE

-3 larges tomatoes
-2 stalks of celery
- one scallion
- salt and pepper to taste
-1/2 -1 cup of ice cubes
- 1 tsp Mila

Start without about ½ cup of the ice cubes and blend the vegetables, and take a taste.  Season the way you like best.  If you need to add more ice cubes to reach the consistency you like best, go ahead.  The amount you add will depend on the ripeness of the tomatoes.  And, adding a teaspoon of Mila, a natural chia seed powder is the perfect way to get more flax seed in your diet.

For an "extra kick," add a littlepinch of horseradish or a dash of Tabasco!

    Whatever, it's a pain killer. It's highly hypocritical to say its ok to take one thing and not the other. Some of these athletes are so hopped up on pain killers that they could not even play with out them, just look at the NFL. A lot of those guys can't practice during the week then all the sudden a couple of cortisone shots, IV's, and pain killers later they are ready to play on Sunday. If Xylocaine didn't do anything and help whoever takes it, then guess what, nobody would take it, so obviously it does something. Clean is clean.
