Monica, here's a post about my steam juicer.

I like it for certain juices, but the high temperatures really seem to affect the taste. More cooked is how I would describe it, similar to commercial juice varieties :( . But you can't beat the convenience and ease of use.

But some juices like our grapes and prunes just taste better and are more flavorful with the old fashioned method. So like most things – there are trade-offs.

Hi Jo,A steam juicer sounds wonderful, wish I had one. We are not working so much with the essential oils with the elderberry, so I see no problem. I canned juice last year, most of my syrup was used quite quickly for pancakes etc. It really didn’t last as medicine. :) Kate’s article has a great recipe for an extract I use for medicine. Blue and Black Elderberries and juice can be canned without added sugar. You can also replace the sugar with honey up to 1/2 the sugar in a syrup application. (this information is from the U.S. Department of Agriculture) Make sure you water bath can them according to directions.

The party was so great! We ate, made soap, made apple juice with the steam juicer, milked BP (although after she hit me in the face with her tail, I gave up!), fed the goats cookies, loved on Jack and Poky and generally had a good time. Yes, Suzanne is that lovely, 52 is quite handsome (and has a voice to fall in love with!), and both Weston and Morgan are gorgeous.
