Where can I order Fresh Whole Mangosteen Fruit?
I need to order the whole fruit please, not the juice, so far the only place I have found that will sell me the whole fruit requires that you buy a "container" I dont need a semi-truck load, just a few to try. Yes it is leagal Yes it can be shipped in the US, so if you know of a link please give. As always thank you for your support.
Thai officials have been working with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) to develop a procedure to assure the safety of the fruit and to prevent the transfer of pests or disease from imports to U.S.-grown produce. On June 20, APHIS announced the conditions under which the six fruits could be imported. On November 1, APHIS certified the procedure, and shipments began.
The first shipment of fresh Thai fruit arrived in the port of Los Angeles earlier this month. Fresh Thai fruit should begin appearing in grocery stores on the West Coast within the next few weeks and on the East Coast early in 2008. Much more of the fresh Thai fruit will appear in American grocery markets in the spring of 2008, as the fruits come back into season.

Does using a powerful blender destroy fibre and is it worse for a diabetic than eating whole fruit?
I know eating whole fruit is better than fruit juice because fruit juice takes out the fibre. Powerful blenders that can make a drink out of a whole piece of fruit are marketed as very healthy and I have one. I am only borderline diabetic and haven't seen a dietician - yet.
I'm just interested to know if eating a whole fruit pulverised in a blender is as good at preventing a quick glucose boost as eating the whole fruit (as low a GI rating in other words).
Is yoghurt and skim milk and fruit smoothie good/ok for a diabetic?
What about liquidizing veges to make soup?
Is my blender of no use at all for a diabetic?
Fruit juice's problem is the fact that the concentration of carbs is higher than the base fruit. Running fruit through a blender will not break down the soluble fibers and you are still consuming the same thing. If running it through the blender breaks the food down than why not swallow that apple whole no chewing allowed. Just remember a lot of diabetics have to restrict the amount of carbs eaten for breakfast. Also you can see how it affects you by testing your blood prior to eating and again 1 and 2 hours after. As far as milk, yogurt and fruit smoothies check the carb count and test to see what they do to your blood. Liquidizing food does not change the nutritional value it just changes the method of consuming the food.
